Will Smith says that more people need to support young artists.
Canadian pop star Justin Bieber has a new and rather influential supporter: A-list actor Will Smith. For purposes of full disclosure, we should probably mention that Smith’s son, Jaden, is one of Bieber best friends. Smith, like Justin, was also a star at a relatively young age and knows the pressures that young artists face.
Smith recently told “Extra” that someone Bieber’s age is “gonna do what they’re gonna do.” He also admitted that he’s offered to counsel the young singer. “He can just call and I’ll come,” the “Independence Day” actor said.
Bieber’s behavior has been downright bizarre in recent months. The singer stormed out of a night club, fainted backstage and attacked a paparazzo. Could it be because he’s feeling bad about his breakup with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez? Perhaps he’s feeling the pressure of performing for his millions of fans?
According to Smith, more people need to support young artists. “There is a war against that kind of artistry, that kind of creation,” Smith said.
Jaden Smith was actually involved in one of Bieber’s first incidents while touring Europe. The young actor was refused entry to a London night club because of his age. According to PerezHilton.com, Bieber was so upset that he couldn’t party with Will and Jada’s son that he stormed out of the club and tweeted, “worst birthday.”
In other Bieber news, the New York Daily News reports that Bieber could be hit with a $2,000 fine for reportedly illegally tattooing celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang last summer. Unlike Bang Bang, Bieber doesn’t possess a tattoo license.
Is there really a “war” going on against young artists? Does Smith’s support of Bieber lend more credibility to singer? What do you make of Bieber’s bizarre behavior in recent months? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
