The sixth season of "Mad Men" takes place toward the end of the 60s, when bright colors, bold patterns and miniskirts were popular.
With the sixth season of AMC’s “Mad Men” set to premiere this weekend, many people will be tuning in to see what Don Draper and all of the rest of the impeccably dressed characters on the hit TV show will be wearing. The sixth season takes place toward the end of the 60s, when bright colors, bold patterns and miniskirts were popular.
January Jones, who plays on Bette Francis on “Mad Men,” has been the focus of fashion talk both on and off screen. The Associated Press notes that Jones is known for adventurous Red Carpet styles and even though these styles have landed her on both the “Best Dressed” and “Worst Dressed” lists, the actress recently told The AP that she could care less about what people think about her fashion styles.
“I think that fashion is an art,” Jones said. “And I sort of like not pleasing people a bit.” She also noted that it makes her laugh when the “Fashion Police” and other critics hate what she wears.
The Huffington Post, for example, included Jones in their “Worst-Dressed Celebrities” list at the SAG Awards 2013. The HuffPost wrote that Jones’ dress “had us scratching our heads in wonder.”
Entertainment Tonight News said that viewers should expect that as “Mad Men” moves toward the end of the 60s, the characters’ fashion styles will reflect the changing pop-culture landscape. Jon Hamm, who plays Don Draper, told ETonline that Don’s fashion style probably won’t change that much.
Christina Hendricks, who plays Joan Harris, told the website that the men’s fashion styles are becoming “groovier.” “Men’s fashion this year is standout,” she added.
