Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling slammed a photographer Friday for calling girlfriend Eva Mendes “baby,” according to the New York Post. Gosling and Mendes were in New York City for the premiere of “The Place Beyond the Pines.”

An eyewitness told the Post that a photographer who had recently photographed Mendes saw the actress and said, “Hey, baby!” According to the eyewitness, Gosling “flipped out” and confronted the photographer. “Who are you calling baby?” he asked. Fortunately, Mendes was able to defuse the situation before a fight broke out. Gosling reportedly shook the guy’s hand, signaling that the beef with him was over.

Gosling and Mendes have been dating since September, but word is out that the “Drive” actor and ex Rachel McAdams are talking again. Gosling and McAdams appeared together in “The Notebook” and dated between 2005 and 2007.

An insider told Now magazine that Rachel has been calling Gosling and “using him as a shoulder to cry on.” Ryan is reportedly sympathetic because he wants to be a good friend to her.

There’s no question that Gosling was in love with McAdams. “God bless The Notebook. It introduced me to one of the great loves of my life,” the actor told GQ in 2007.

It appears, however, that Gosling is perfectly content with Mendes. The actor and his girlfriend were recently spotted eating at Pies N’ Thighs restaurant in Brooklyn. The couple reportedly spent time with the owner’s baby girl. An eyewitness told Life & Style magazine that Gosling looked extremely natural holding the baby. “It was so sweet to watch,” the source said.

It should be noted, however, that Gosling and Mendez work hard to keep their relationship private. The Post pointed out that Gosling and Mendes didn’t talk to one another during a Svedka-sponsored party for “The Place Beyond the Pines.”
