Justin Bieber won’t face jail time, but it seems he could be facing some legal problems.

The teen pop star could reportedly face prosecution for allegedly spitting in his neighbor’s face earlier this month.

According to TMZ, the Los Angeles District Attorney is said to be entertaining the thought of going after Bieber, saying the spitting incident is “disgusting” and a “potential serious health concern.” TMZ reports that the case could be referred to Los Angeles district attorney following an investigation into the incident. The referral would likely mean criminal battery charges would be filed against the singer.

The development comes as Bieber allegedly let loose on one of his neighbors. According to sources, the singer spit in his neighbor’s face and threatened to kill him. The pop star was reportedly responding to complaints by the neighbor over Bieber’s driving skills, which may have included speeding through the neighborhood at speeds of over 100 mph.

According to TMZ, the man, who has been named as Jeff Schwartz — 45-year-old ex-Vice President of The Walt Disney Company, founder of Autobytel and current President/CEO of Mota Motors Inc., approached Bieber in an aggressive manner, yelling at the teen singer and telling him to stop speeding through the neighborhood.

“You can’t drive like this!”  the man reportedly told deputies. Bieber reportedly responded by saying , “Get the f**k out of here,” spit in the man’s face, and said “I’m gonna f**king kill you.”

Sources close to Bieber say there was no physical contact between the man and the singer. The man reportedly said he is willing to pursue the case and he wishes to file formal charges.

The incident comes as Beiber has faced a series of press problems over the last several weeks. In what many are calling his worst week ever, the 19-year-old pop star struggled with his breathing and fainted backstage at a London show just one night after arriving nearly two hours late. Bieber was then caught on camera clashing with a paparazzo. Earlier this year, the pop star was photographed smoking with his friend, Lil Twist, an incident that seemed to initiate a series of follow ups. Some headlines have suggested that the ultra-popular star is going through a famous Britney Spears-style meltdown.

All indications seem to point to Bieber burnout. The pop star recently noted that he may be interested in taking a break from the music scene. Speaking to US Weekly, Bieber said he would consider a break after ending his world tour in August 2013.

For his part, Bieber seems ready to concede that he is not perfect. Speaking earlier this week, the pop star seemed to suggest that he understands he sometimes slips up.

“I’ve accomplished more than I could’ve ever dreamed of, I’m 19 and it must be scary to some people to think that this is just the beginning,” he wrote in a piece published on his site. “I’m a good person with a big heart. … All this isn’t easy. I get angry sometimes. I’m human. I’m gonna make mistakes.”
