Hamm was recently asked by "Mad Men" producers to start wearing underwear during the filming of the 6th season of the hit AMC show.
“Mad Men” star Jon Hamm is sick and tired of all the talk about his penis. TMZ reports that several underwear companies are trying to cover the actor’s private parts with their products. The gossip website says that both Fruit of the Loom and Jockey are offering Hamm a lifetime supply of underwear.
According to the New York Daily News, Hamm was recently asked by “Mad Men” producers to start wearing underwear during the filming of the sixth season of the hit AMC show. “This season takes place in the 1960s, where the pants are very tight and leave little to the imagination,” an AMC insider told the Daily News. The source said that Jon has “impressive anatomy” that can be distracting to the viewer.
The source also said that AMC’s marketing team had to work on promotional materials with Photoshop during the earlier seasons to make sure his privates weren’t so public.
The internet has been abuzz with pictures and blogs dedicated to Hamm’s privates. BuzzFeed, for example, found 15 slightly NSFW pictures of Jon and his penis for a blog post titled, “15 Reasons Why We Must Liberate Jon Hamm.”
However, the interest in Hamm’s anatomy isn’t new. For instance, a Tumble called “Jon Hamm’s Wang” has been showing photos of Hamm’s privates for several years.
Hamm recently told Rolling Stone magazine that he just don’t understand the intense focus on his penis. “Lay off. I mean, it’s not like I’m a f—ing lead miner,” he said.
Despite his disgust with the spotlight being pointed at his privates, Hamm admits that “it’s better than being called out for the opposite.”
Should an actor be asked to wear underwear under his swim trunks if certain parts of his anatomy are distracting to viewers or is this an invasion of his privacy? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
“Mad Men’s” sixth season debuts April 7 on AMC.
