Schwarzenegger reportedly tells a German newspaper that he still loves Maria.
Actor, bodybuilder and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to make amends with his ex-wife Maria Shriver.
“We’re not fighting a war. I still hope for reconciliation. I still love Maria,” Schwarzenegger told the German newspaper Bild Tuesday.
The actor told the newspaper that he spent Christmas with Shriver and their children even though the two have been separated since “The Governator” admitted to fathering a child with the family’s housekeeper.
“After leaving the governor’s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago,” Schwarzenegger said back in 2011 in a statement issued to The Los Angeles Times. “I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.”
Schwarzenegger and his son, Patrick, were recently spotted shopping for cigars together at the Davidoff of London. The Daily Mail reports that Patrick is accompanying his father on a promotional tour of Europe for “The Last Stand.”
Schwarzenegger’s latest film, which flopped at the box office, has led some people to start questioning whether the former California governor has any future as an action star. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the former bodybuilder wants to join Sylvester Stallone, Liam Neeson and Bruce Willis as “Hollywood’s apparently ageless wonders.” So far, this is one dream that hasn’t come true for “The Governator.”
There’s still a chance that reprising his role as the cyborg in “Terminator 5” will earn him a spot in this category. According to media reports and “The Governator” himself, the next film in the “Terminator” series is currently being written.
“They’re writing right now Terminator 5,” Schwarzenegger told The Sun. “There have been some writers on it for the last year-and-a-half and they could not pull it off. We have told them over and over that they are going in the wrong direction, now they’ve finally got rid of those writers and they’ve got new really quality writers. Now they’re going in the right direction. I think this year the script will be finished and we will be able to go into pre-production.”
Should Shriver take back her ex-husband after he admitted to fathering a child with the family’s housekeeper? Is “The Governator” still an action star? If not, does he have a future in any other film genre? Sound off in the comments section.
