Justin Bieber spent his first day without Selena Gomez by getting high.

Pictures published by TMZ show Bieber taking part in some New Year’s celebration, smoking a marijuana blunt and partying with friends. The photos, first published by TMZ, were supposedly taken at a Newport Beach hotel room. Bieber is shown smoking a blunt with Lil Twist.

The pictures surfaced just days after a photographer was killed while trying to snap pics of Bieber’s Ferrari. The photographer,Chris Guerra, allegedly told a friend shortly before his death that he had witnessed the teen pop sensation driving his car while smoking on a marijuana pipe. Bieber’s spokespeople denied the allegation, saying it was the latest rumor making its way through Hollywood. Bieber also expressed his condolences in a statement issued late Wednesday.

The photo’s release comes as Bieber and Gomez reportedly split up again over the holidays, after a romantic vacation in Mexico turned sour. A source close to the pair confirmed the break up, saying the split was the result of differences and tough schedules.

“The two of them flew to Mexico for New Year’s Eve, but had a blow-out argument on December 30 and broke up. Selena left Mexico that same day and Justin left for L.A. on the 31st. They haven’t seen each other since and she was never at the Four Seasons on New Year’s Day,” the source said.

“They keep breaking up and getting back together,” the source added. “It’s an on-again, off-again relationship. It’s probably not correct to characterize this as a final breakup.”

Bieber and Gomez have been struggling to keep their relationship intact since November, when the two first called it quits.

Meanwhile, Gomez seems to have continued on with her life. The teen pop star announced that Bridgit Mendler will be a guest at her annual UNICEF charity show.

“Please welcome the following to the line up of my UNICEF acoustic charity show in NY on Jan. 19th@bridgitmendler and @only1noah,” she announced on the social site.

“Nothing is more important than helping children in need around the globe. I’m thankful that I can use my voice to bring awareness and much-needed funds to UNICEF so they can continue their critical work. Together, with my fans, we can save lives,” Gomez later added in a statement.

Gomez was appointed UNICEF Ambassador in September 2009. This will be her third acoustic concert for the charity. This year’s concert is slated to be held in New York City and will take place at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square on January 19th.

With Gomez and Beiber calling it quits, the focus will likely shift to recent rumors about the Bieber’s drug and alcohol use.
