It may not be her proudest moment, but Tom Cruise’s new girl, Cynthia Jorge, used to date Stifler from “American Pie,” according to a report from the New York Daily News. A source told the Daily News that Ms. Jorge, a Queens native, once dated actor Seann William Scott, who played Stifler in the R-rated movie series.

Ms. Jorge may be finding the new attention that comes with being linked to Mr. Cruise a little too much to handle, as contactmusic.com reports that the Queens resident, who supervises a Beauty & Essex in New York City, needed to go into hiding at her mother’s home in Fresh Meadows to escape the spotlight.

Mr. Cruise was first spotted with a new girl on his arm by inTouch. The website reports that the “Jack Reacher” star was spotted “sweeping her around the dance floor,” of NYC’s Le Baron nightclub on December 18. A source told the magazine that the pair first locked eyes on December 16 at Beauty & Essex. The source said that Ms. Jorge handed the Hollywood celebrity her business card as he left the restaurant.

A source told the Daily News that Ms. Jorge, who is 26 years old, is “really nice […] she doesn’t want to be an actress, she just wants to have fun. She’s young and single.”

In other words, the Queens native may be exactly the kind of girl that Mr. Cruise is looking to date after splitting with ex-wife, Katie Holmes.

Listed by Entertainment Tonight as one of 2012’s Shocking Splits, Ms. Holmes and Mr. Cruise had been together for several years before Katie filed for divorce from Tom. The couple have one child together, six-year-old daughter Suri Cruise.

The TomKat relationship generated big headlines from the beginning, as ET notes. The biggest headline likely being Mr. Cruise’s couch-jumping announcement of his love for Katie Holmes on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 2005.

According to the Daily News, Mr. Cruise had his first post-Holmes date not to far away from the Chelsea home shared by his ex-wife and daughter.

One of Ms. Jorge’s former co-workers told the Daily News, however, that the Queen native’s high-profile date didn’t fit her character.

“I’m surprised she was with Tom Cruise,” the source said. “She was lovely, beautiful to look at. On the inside, that was something else.”

But another source clarified to E! News that Ms. Jorge is not the action film star’s new girlfriend.

“He’s single and will be talking to women — all of whom he won’t be instantly dating,” the source said.

Mr. Cruise was previously married to Nicole Kidman (1990 to 2001) and Mimi Rogers (1987 to 1990).

There are plenty of rumors about why Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise split and as the Guardian points out, the rumors are all over the place. Whatever the reason for the divorce, it appears that the marriage was over six months before Ms. Holmes filed papers in the New York State Supreme Court, according to court documents obtained by the National Enquirer.
