Springsteen, Jay-Z join President Obama’s campaign in final days before election

Jay-Z and Bruce Springsteen will campaign for Obama.

Famed musician Bruce Springsteen and rapper Jay-Z are among the big-name celebrities who will work to boost support for President Obama in the final days of the campaign.

Springsteen is slated to perform and introduce Obama on Monday as he kicks off the last day of the campaign in Madison, Wisconsin. The duo will then travel to Columbus, Ohio, where Obama will take the stage with Jay-Z, who endorsed the president earlier this year. First lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to meet up with the president, Springsteen, and Jay-Z later Monday in Des Moines, Iowa. The campaign event in Des Moines, Iowa, will be Obama’s last before traveling to Chicago on Election Day.

The appearance comes as Obama has struggled to pull away from Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the final days of the 2012 campaign. While polls show Obama leading the former Massachusetts governor in key swing states, national polls continue to show Romney well within the margin of error.

The events with Springsteen and Jay-Z are likely to draw scrutiny from the Romney campaign. The former Massachusetts governor has repeatedly criticized Obama for securing various celebrity endorsements. Still, Obama has not shied away from touting his connection to various high profile names.

In a wide-ranging interview with Cleveland’s z107.9, the president discussed his time with Jay-Z, saying he and the rapper discussed parenting.

“I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out [with the baby],” he said. “And not leaving it all with mom and the mother-in-law.”

Jay-Z and Beyonce recently had their first daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
