Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ sets new Vevo world record

Taylor Swift’s video for her recent single Bad Blood crushed previous Vevo records. Her video received 20.1 million views on Xbox, Roku, Vevo.com, YouTube and other Vevo platforms in just 24 hours. This makes it the most-viewed video in a 24-hour period of all time.

Swift beat out Nicki Minaj’s scandalous video Anaconda for the top spot. Minaj won the title in August 2014 with 19.6 million viewers in the same 24-hour period, according to Time.

Miley Cyrus now holds the third place spot for her success with her Wrecking Ball video, which earned 19.3 million views in the same time-period. One Direction’s Best Song Ever moves to fourth place with 12.3 million views.

Swift thanked her fans via Twitter. In all caps she tweeted, “Freaking out right now” and “You broke the Vevo world record.” She also gave a special shoutout to Selena Gomez, Kendrick Lamar and more for appearing in the video.

The video was released earlier this week and made its big debut on the Billboard Music Awards. The video featured several of Swift’s females friends in various industries.

Along with Gomez as Arsyn and Lamar as Welvin Da Great, Karlie Kloss appeared as Knockout, Martha Hunt as HomeSlice, Jessica Alba as Domino, Hailee Steinfield as The Trinity, Ellie Goulding as Destructa X, Serayah as Dilemma, Lena Dunham as Lucky Fiori, GiGi Hadid as Slay-Z, Hayley Williams as The Crimson Curse, Mariska Hargitay as Justice, Cara Delevingne as Mother Chucker, Ellen Pompeo as Luna, Lily Aldridge as Frostbyte, Zendaya as Cut-Throat and Cindy Crawford as Headmistress.

Swift’s views did not all come from her Bad Blood video. Vevo also said in a release that Swift’s video collection on Vevo, including You Belong With Me, Shake It Off and Mean, has racked up 5 billion views in total.
