Carrie Underwood announces the birth of her first child

Isaiah Michael Fisher made his social media debut on his mother's Instagram Tuesday morning.

American Idol, second generation. Country singer Carrie Underwood announced the birth of her first child on her Instagram Tuesday March 3.

Underwood, 31, posted a sweet photo early Tuesday morning sharing the news. The caption read, “Tiny hands and tiny feet…God has blessed us with an amazing gift! Isaiah Michael Fisher—born on February 27. Welcome to the world, sweet angel!”

The photo has already received nearly 300,000 likes.

Underwood, best known for hits such as Jesus Take the Wheel and Before He Cheats, wed her husband Mike Fisher in 2010. Fisher is a NHL player for the Nashville Predators. It is the couple’s first child. Underwood announced the pregnancy in September, posting a photo of herself with her two dogs wearing “I’m Going to Be a Big Sister” and “I’m Going to Be a Big Brother” t-shirts.

Speaking to ET in December, Underwood had admitted Fisher, 34, was looking forward to having a daughter. Instead, they found out they were expecting a boy, news that was broken to the public in November by Underwood’s CMA Awards co-host Brad Paisley while they were on stage, as he joked she was going to have to name her son “Garth.”

Once the fact that the baby was a boy had sunk in, Underwood said both she and her husband were “really excited and just can’t wait to meet him.”
