Sigh of relief: Val Kilmer doesn’t have a tumor

Kilmer had been hospitalized on Saturday with reports that he may have a tumor, but the actor said in a Facebook post that he hadn't gotten any surgery and didn't have a tumor.

Actor Val Kilmer, star of such movies as Top Gun and Tombstone, was hospitalized this weekend for what was purported to be a possible tumor — however, he said he doesn’t have one.

Kilmer confirmed that he had been hospitalized and was awaiting some medical results, but he had not had any surgery and there was no tumor, according to an Associated Press report.

The reason the 55-year-old was sent to the UCLA Medical Center’s intensive care unit was because of a “complication” that he didn’t elaborate on.

In a Facebook post, Kilmer said that he was awaiting X-ray results and would await doctor’s orders and his family’s counsel “when all the facts are in,” according to the report.

He said he would be “back at it sooner than u can shake a gossip column at an out of work actor.”

His publicist, Liz Rosenberg, confirmed earlier on Saturday that the actor had been hospitalized, noting that the tests were for a possible tumor, and that two of his children were caring for him at the moment.

Kilmer thanked his fans and said there was no reason to be concerned. He said his fans have been “most sensitive and kind for the extra effort in making sure there’s minimum gossip and silly talk.”

Kilmer became popular in the mid 1980s with the breakout comedy hit Top Secret! and cult classic Real Genius a year later, which would be followed by his big smash, Top Gun, in which he played the sidekick Goose to Tom Cruise’s Maverick.
