Sharon Osbourne supports Kelly’s choice to leave ‘Fashion Police’

Kelly Osbourne has made the decision to leave her position on E’s Fashion Police after a controversial moment and she has the full support of her mother Sharon Osbourne moving forward.

The controversy occurred in conjunction with this year’s Oscars when Giuliana Rancic made an ill taken comment about 18 year old actress Zendaya Coleman’s red carpet look. The host was commenting on the dreadlocks that Zendaya chose to wear for the occasion and mentioned that the young actress probably smelled “like patchouli oil and weed”.

Kelly clearly did not take the comments lightly and denied all involvement, which her post show tweet made clear.

“I did not make the weed comment. I do not condone racism so as a result of this I’m seriously questioning staying on the show!”

On Friday the network issued a press release to officially confirm Kelly’s decision to leave.

“Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s ‘Fashion Police’ to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers,” it read.

Mom Sharon took to Twitter to show her immense support.

“.@KellyOsbourne, I am so proud of you. You can never be bought. You always wear your heart on your sleeve. #ProudToBeYourMum.”

There is no official word yet about who will be taking Kelly’s place on the popular show. Giuliana has since issues apologies on air as well as via Twitter, which Zendaya has accepted. Some reports state that writers were responsible for the line about the dreadlocks, not Giuliana herself, and that no one saw the potential racism in the comment until after the fact.

Zendaya was recently stopped exiting a studio wit her father and expressed to the photographers that she was ready to move on from the controversial incident.

“Let’s let it go. Let’s make it positive,” she said.
