Anne Hathaway is returning to the stage

The Academy Award Winner will be performing a 70-minute monologue.

Anne Hathaway, one of the most well-known actresses today and star of major blockbusters like The Dark Knights Rises and Interstellar, will be returning to the stage.

She is returning to theater this spring for a one-woman show where she is to play an ace fighter pilot.

The play she will be starring in is called Grounded, which is a 70-minute monologue, about a female pilot reassigned to piloting a military drone after learning she is pregnant. It was written by playwright George Brant, who won the Smith Prize for Political Theater back in 2012 for this very script.

Grounded is brilliant and important play, a meditation on the human and moral costs of our astonishing military technology,” said the Public’s artistic director, Oskar Eustis. “This promises to be an unforgettable theatrical event, and an important addition to our national conversation.”

Julie Taylor will be directing the play, which will start its performance on April 7th, 2015 and will run through May 17th, 2015 at the New York Public Theater. Julie Taylor has previously directed The Lion King.

The Public’s production of Grounded will feature, lighting design by Christopher Akerlind, scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, projection design by Peter Nigrini, music/soundscapes by Elliot Goldenthal, and sound design by Will Pickens.

This will be Anne Hathaway’s big return to the theatre as it will be her first time back to the Public since 2009 where she played Viola in a Shakespeare in the Park production.
