Bruce Jenner gets hit with wrongful death lawsuit over ‘reckless’ car accident

According to the suit, the ex-Olympian "violated the rules of the road" and was "negligent, careless and reckless" in causing the wreck.

The stepchildren of a Calabasas, Calif. woman who died in a multi-car collision involving Bruce Jenner in Malibu filed a wrongful-death lawsuit Friday.

The Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit seeks unspecified damages from the ex-Olympian. Jenner’s publicist, Alan Nierob, declined comment on the case, Reuters reported.

William Howe and Dana Redmond contend that the reality television star drove negligently and recklessly, leading to the Feb. 7 wreck on Pacific Coast Highway near Corral Canyon Road. Their stepmother, Kim Howe, 69, died in the crash.

Shortly after the Malibu crash, authorities said Howe’s Lexus crashed into a black Toyota Prius whose driver had slowed or stopped several hundred feet before the PCH traffic signal at Corral Canyon Road for unknown reasons.

Jenner’s Cadillac Escalade, hauling an off-road vehicle on a trailer, then rear-ended the Lexus, which pushed the sedan into the path of an oncoming Hummer SUV.  Three other adults and two children were injured in the crash.

Jenner has not been cited or charged in connection with the crash, which remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the suit, Jenner “violated the rules of the road” and was “negligent, careless and reckless” in causing the wreck, though the six-page complaint did not specify how Jenner was alleged to have been at fault, Reuters reported.

The former Olympian has made headlines in recent months for his transition from male to female, which he confirmed in a recent ABC interview. The interview was conducted days before the Malibu crash.
