Elephants team up to keep 18-wheeler from tipping over

The elephants were on their way to Texas for a circus show when their big-rig got stuck in the mud.

An 18-wheeler that got stuck in mud along Interstate 49 in Louisiana nearly tipped over, until elephants came to bail it out.

Fortunately for the driver, his cargo included three elephants when his 2000 Kenworth became stuck in Natchitoches Parish on his way from New Orleans to Dallas, according to a Town Talk report.

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene to help out early Tuesday morning, and when they arrived, they found that there were two elephants keeping the trucks from overturning, according to the report.

Deputies were “astounded” at the sight, according to a statement put out by the sheriff’s office.

Not long after, a local wrecker was able to drag the 18-wheeler out of the mud, allowing the elephants to return to the trailer and leave with the truck. The police did not issue any citations.

The elephants were on their way to Frisco, Texas, where they will be part of a circus.
