Little girl’s body found decomposing in a crib in Ohio; father arrested

Police were shocked after making the gruesome discovery -- and they're looking into the 2013 death of his other daughter.

An Ohio man is behind bars after police found the body of his daughter decomposing in his crib, and they will also take a closer look at the death of another infant back in 2013.

The Medina County sheriff’s office jailed Eric Warfel on a $1 million bond with a fifth-degree felony charge of abusing a corpse, and depending on what the investigation shows, the charges could get a lot more severe, according to a Fox News report.

It was a cable company employee that happened upon the body of Warfel’s daughter Ember in his apartment this week. Warfel claimed that she had died all the way back on June 18, and said he had left the body in the crib and not informed anyone about it, according to the report. He even threw garbage into the bedroom to keep the smell from arousing suspicion, the judge said.

Warfel had been living in a motel when the body of Ember was discovered, and cocaine was found in his motel room, police allege.

Authorities will also be looking deeper into the death of Erin Warfel, who died back in 2013 at the age of five months old. An autopsy report was inconclusive, although the girl was apparently small for her age.

Warfel has another daughter who is 7 years old. She has been placed in the custody of her grandparents. Warfel divorced the mother of his children, Molly Galdamez, last December.

The report quoted a neighbor of the couple as saying that they didn’t make eye contact and that the older daughter didn’t appear to be attending school.
