Ryan Gosling is rumored to make his return to the big screen in Blade Runner 2, starring alongside original lead, Harrison Ford.

Gosling announced a break from acting in 2013 with the intention of focusing on more directing work. He made his directorial debut with the film Lost River in 2014 and has several acting roles lined up for 2016.

Alongside Gosling, Harrison Ford will reprise his role from the original 1982 film, as hunter Rick Deckard. No details have been released regarding Gosling’s character have been released.

Ridley Scott, who directed the original Blade Runner, has signed on to continue with the franchise as an executive producer. Denis Villeneuve, who recently directed Prisoners, will be the director. The script will be written by Hampton Francher, who co-wrote the original, and Michael Green. Last year when the news of a sequel broke, Scott told MTV News that Ford was very excited about the script, elaborating further to say, “I sent him this [script] and he said it’s the best thing he’s ever read. It’s very relevant to what happened in the first one.”

No further plot details have been released, other than the fact that the sequel to the sci-fi classic is set to take place around 30 years after the ambiguous ending of the original, which was set in a dystopian 2019.

Filming for the sequel is set to begin in 2016, no official release date has been announced.
